Kaylina C.

I am unique because I come from a place of deep understanding. I know what is needed to be an extraordinary teacher, whether it’s dealing with students in the general education class or students in self-contained settings. I have such a strong passion for teaching others, and I find it extremely satisfying when I finally flicker that light bulb in every student’s brain.

When I am not educating others, you can find me educating myself with anything sports-related, because I love going to sports games with my family. People would be surprised to know that teaching wasn’t my first career choice. Although when you see me in the classroom or working with a student one-on-one, you would think that teaching was something that I always knew I wanted to do. I have the patience, the strength, the courage, and the knowledge to teach students, and this was something I was definitely destined to be.

I am most proud of my accomplishments throughout the years, beginning from when I was in school myself. I was the student who never missed a day of school, and yes I have the plaque to prove I had perfect attendance for 12 years. I am also most proud of the woman I have become today. Everyone has struggles that they have to undergo to get to where we stand today, and I am utterly proud of every mountain and ocean I had to surpass to be who I am today.

If I could tell my younger self one piece of advice, it would be to detour the medical stage and go straight into learning education. I would also tell myself to do something with myself that will, later on, become the passion of my life. I always played pretend school with my younger sister, so maybe I should have always listened to my heart. But now that I have, I am nothing other than thrilled with my choosings. I would be an ideal fit for any type of student because I love a good challenge or comfort with a familiar scenario. However, I strive at teaching when I am dealing with students in the elementary or middle school setting, and specifically in subjects such as language arts, history, math, and some science.
